The CDCA Female program commenced in 2018/19 born out of an enthusiastic committee and coaches with a competition of 6 junior sides featuring Apollo Bay, Colac West, City United, Birregurra, Irrewarra Red and Irrewarra Black.

The follow season in 2019/20 seen the first women’s side Irrewarra playing in the inaugural Barwon Women’s Cricket Competition. The CDCA club tasted the ultimate success winning the premiership in the very first season. Representative cricket started for our junior female cricketers taking part in the inaugural Country Girls Cup in Hamilton.

In 2020/21 the CDCA compiled their first women’s competition of 5 teams with some clubs entering from the South West Cricket Association. Bookaar CC won the first women’s premiership in an upset result to Pomborneit CC. Irrewarra CC had their second and final season in the BWCC choosing then to play in the local competition after concluding the season.

Further expansion of the team in 2021/22 saw 10 women’s team across two divisions of cricket. In a grand final replay Bookaar CC again caused an upset in the Division 1 competition while Pomborneit CC won the Division 2 competition. For the first time the junior competition also played for a title with Apollo Bay CC claiming that. Our women players also played their first representative cricket in a one-off exhibition against Hamilton.

Currently this year we’ve seen further growth with an extra level of juniors with both an Under 13 and Under 17 competition. Our women’s representative side this year will take part in the inaugural Women’s KFC Festival of Cricket Competition against Western Victorian associations.

From our humble beginnings, we’ve grown to have now over 200 female cricketers across 10 women’s sides and 10 junior sides and talent now spans into greater opportunities.

Notable talents we’ve helped on their pathway to premier cricket or state carnivals are;

Aanliya Cheeran, Sienna Mallon, Sophie Walker, Grace Lee, Taylah Casson and Kira Winnell.
